Forgot Why I Walked In

I told myself that I wasn’t
going to buy another plant.
But you were so gorgeous,
I couldn’t help myself.

My whole world is slowly turning
green.

I don’t have any cats or a dog
that would scurry up to you,
agreeing with my view of you.

When I walked into the store,
I was actually there to get
something else
that thought now
a distant memory.

I can’t wait to get you home
and pot you into what I hope
is your favorite color,
a vase handmade in the light
of my eyes.

I can’t wait to get you there
and welcome you to a place
of ever flowing emotion,
watered and tended to
until you burst out into
comfort.

my favorite little pretty thing.
