Player Two

You’re my player two
always and forever.

Through the day, late into the night,
our fingers can be heard pressing buttons.

Various quests, desperately searching
for health, pickups. Anything
to make us stronger than we are.

My console or yours,
we easily pick up where we left off.

We may not win all the time,
but we are definitely stronger together
than alone.

We laugh, we talk,
we cuss on into the night
the next stage that much closer.

When I am ready to quit for the night
and lay my head down,
your eyes still gleam,
and you ask if I am alright.

I just smile and look at you.

“I love you” is all I can say.
