Won’t Let Me Sleep

I turn over,
but cannot hide.
I should be asleep,
but I cannot.

I can feel it,
like I am somewhere else.
The hours
only expand
and they grow.

I don’t know exactly
where I am,
but I know
that I am with you,
somewhere behind your eyes.

The more I lay,
the faster my heart beats.
Somewhere,
there is a memory
I am currently living
living and breathing,
but have no recollection of.

No matter
how much I toss
and turn,
I cannot hide from you.

Your want
becoming stronger than
my own need.

I want
to close these eyes
and go to sleep,
but I cannot.

You won’t let me.

Somewhere,
I am undressed
my body left behind,
awake with me still.

But I feel every sensation,
like I am there with you
every shiver,
every trace of skin.

Your dream
has laid its head
on my chest.

I don’t have a choice,
except to wait
until you fall asleep,
so that I may
get some sleep.
