Anticipation

I’ve hoped my face would appear in your dreams,
telling you how much I love you, how much I’ve missed you.

Remembering the words we’ve said,
a sweet taste filling the inside of our mouths.

I’ve dreamed of you,
wishing I could pull you from that same dream,
waking up, reaching for you
as time flies when you’re awake.

Awoken by the summer heat,
living in the memory of your touch,
as your kiss took away every worry, every doubt.

A light shone in light.
Lost, without regret.

Not all dreams arrive when we want them to,
but sometime soon,
I hope my face appears,
telling you how much I love and miss you.
