I went for a walk last night
in your dream.
Your body at rest
Nice and nestled,
Curled up in your comforter.
I didn’t know which way was up,
which way was down.
Your snore the sound of a horn.
Blowing at the next breath,
waiting for it to go through
the intersection.
As I walked down the street,
I don’t remember
If I had on shoes or not.
But I kept walking.
Knowing that I was near
my favorite person.
Walking in a place
she knows is safe.
Before I left my bed.
I left my wallet on the dresser,
my keys,
Everything I otherwise should’ve had.
Walking down your happy boulevard,
I accidentally photobombed
Your smile,
before I woke up in my bed
