It happened so fast.
One minute, I am there
the next, I am not.
Soaring above the clouds,
filled with a million and one questions.
Everything seems so much brighter,
a carnival of a million lights
all going off at the same time.
You appeared out of nowhere
the dim switch of my life now amplified,
bursting through the socket.
My soul, but a jolt,
charging in your warmth.
If I could have run, I would have
but I also would have missed out on you.
That’s just how fast love strikes,
oftentimes without warning.
You’ve opened my heart,
my soul,
my everything.
There is no such thing as being afraid
of the dark when you’re around.
Although the cable company
might have a problem with it.
When Lightning Strikes
