What Did You Say?

I woke up somewhere I haven’t been,
but it smelled like you.
I looked around recognizing something
familiar but realizing it wasn’t mine.
You called out to me, and I ran towards you.
I don’t remember what you sounded like or what you said,
but I went with you.
Long as I was there, I was okay.
Grounded in someone real.
When you smiled,
if anything changed,
I don’t remember.
It’s known that dreams can lie
However real they seem.

If this is what it feels like waking up
in someone else’s dream,
I consider myself lucky you weren’t fighting a dragon
or you weren’t investigating forensics.
I wouldn’t have a clue where to start.
But maybe that was the point,
to let you know that you weren’t alone
to give you a smile or two,
waking up like nothing happened.
