Addams Family Values

I didn’t want to say too much.
Really,
there wasn’t much to say at all.

I don’t want to open what
was never really closed.

It’s just a link
a short message
tied to one of our favorite things.

Morticia’s smirk.
Gomez’s laugh.

Admittedly,
I hesitated longer
than I was supposed to.

Of everything packed away
between us,
somehow
this fell out of the box.

I guess even ghosts
don’t have everything
together sometimes.

So I copied the link
and pressed send.

It’s not a love letter.
It’s far too short
to be an olive branch.

Somewhere in the universe
there is a version of us
that still speaks,
that still laughs
at our inside jokes.

And this tied thread
it must be tied to them.
