Closer And Closer

You always say it like it’s a secret
but somehow,
I always find it.
I always hear it.
Every word you speak.

Then came your tour.
I added the date you’d arrive
in my city.
I had the money
but I had another check coming to me
before you got here.

Whatever stress,
whatever happened at work.
none of that mattered.
Just to see you in person.

A day before
you disappeared.
No video upload,
not a single post.
Then Friday,
nothing but noise.

You arrived.
No more stress.
No more work.

Regardless of all the voices
that take up space in your comments,
you’ve been orbiting
closer and closer
to the gravity of my world.

I don’t have to say it
like a secret.
The idea of the light in my world
making friends
with the shadow in yours
is all I need.
