If I stay still long enough,
it’s bound to happen.
It goes by in a blink,
sometimes hard to catch.
But truth is, if you believe in it,
then anything is possible.
Sometimes lightning can be vulnerable
a daffodil dancing in a field of rain.
It goes by in a blink.
If I stay long enough,
then it’s bound to happen.
And as soon as it does,
I’ll twist the top back on the jar,
thought to be the safest place possible.
I wasn’t looking for you,
but that’s how the best miracles happen.
No matter how imperfect,
we both are electrified.
Thought to be the safest place possible,
I put the lid on top of my head
and waited for you to strike
the second time around.
Deliriously absorbed in ecstasy,
Edison would be proud.
Strike Twice
